In this dream, my mom and I were travelling along an interstate that had two lanes on each side. There were police cars driving in traffic, too. All of a sudden, two cars crashed on our side, blocking both lanes of traffic. Police cars stopped alongside to help the supposed "accident." The men in the accident cars got out machine guns from the back seat or trunk. First, they took care of the police officers, then turned on the regular civilians.

My mom and I got out of the car and started running, through the crashed cars, rather than sitting there and waiting to be slaughtered. A man with a gun started running after us. I only remember myself running now, and the running guy was shooting. I was getting more scared, but then a truck hit the guy. Eventually, I ran into this town (we were in mid California, I think), Platter. I didn't want to go into the big stores or anything because I was worried that they might be involved with the accident. So, I ran to the outskirts of town, where there was a natural opening. There was a freestanding overhang type thing, and two guys were standing nearby. Somehow I knew they were Academic Decathlon members, and I asked them for help. As I got close, I saw there was a brunette girl (also a decathlete) under the overhang, which had brown worms and ants comprising the ceiling. I went under the overhang to talk to her. Although they were hesitant at first to help, they finally agreed.

They borrowed an oldish, bright orange car from a friendly middle-aged man and began to drive me out of the area to a "safer" spot. We passed one two word town (I forget its name... something similar to Aliso Viejo), which had the town name written in the hills (in my dream). This was not a friendly town, so we drove on. Soon, we reached a friendly town, and I found the Decathlon members there.
