I was looking out the window at the neighbor's house across the street. I was saying to my husband, "Man you won't believe what they are doing over there! This can't be legal!" The neighbors had a crew of people installing an enormous, rotating, flashing billboard for Kroger Food and Drug. The sign was bigger than three houses and was kind of low on the horizon. It eclipsed everything else in the neighborhood. While I was pondering, this plastic American flag blew down toward my window. I went outside to get it, thinking to myself, "Jay is never going to believe this! The billboard and the flag...too much..."For some reason I hopped into a VW van, which started up with a screwdriver. It started to go forward and I was freaked out because I did not know how to drive it. The American flag was stuck to the front of the van. I was screaming for Jay to help me but I was swept up in traffic and couldn't make a left turn to get back home and I knew he was too far away to hear me. There were endless cars, all trying to get to work. I saw flashing lights in the rear view mirror and thought I was getting pulled over. I tried to make a right turn and ended up on a side street. There were boxes filled with stuff on the sidewalk so I stopped the van to investigate. I turned the screwdriver in the ignition to turn it off, then thought, "Shit!!! I am never going to get this started again!!!" I estimated I was about eight blocks away from my house and figured I could just walk, but Jay would still be pissed that I left the van in the middle of side street no where. I went to the boxes and looked inside. I picked out a glass car with a duck inside (not in the drivers seat - inside the car, I could see it lying on it's side through the floorboard.) I also found some rubber creature with strange monster faces and picked these for Jay. I started walking home. It was snowing and I felt bad because there were price tags on some of the things I had walked off with. I consoled myself by thinking, "If these things were for sale they would not be outside. It must be an eviction."
