I was shopping with some friends at a department store. This store was like macy's, but somehow super-posh too, the way that department stores in Japan can be just a regular department store but they will package everything really nicely for you. Anyway, every time you bought anything, they would also make up a little sample of whatever you had bought, like a miniture gift package. Maybe the idea was that you'd give that to a friend, since you liked it so much, and they might appreciate it too. So I had gotten some stationary, and that was fine, they just packaged up a little mini-stationary kit for me, but then I had also gotten some perfume. To give me the perfume sample, they put some on my wrist and then cut off my hand! It was fine: there was no blood or anything, and my hand grew right back right away, but later, when I pulled this hand out of my bag it was completely strange.
