Some doctor who had examined mostly everyone at my school one day (don't ask me why), informed me that I had a "slipped disk" in my spine. I was so terrified. I knew I'd have to get surgery to correct it.
The day before my surgery arrived. I was told that the operation would go very quickly and smoothly, and I had nothing to fear. I was also told that I'd be awake throughout the procedure. Eek. I kept shouting, "I WANNA BE KNOCKED OUT!"
I went out and ate lunch with three of my friends and found out that they all had slipped disks, too, and would also be having surgery tomorrow. I spoke to some other people from my school and it seemed like everyone had been told they had slipped disks.
At my grandmother's house that night, I got online and started sending emails to people, informing them of my upcoming operation. Next, I began talking to my friend Pete on IMs. I happened to glance at my hand in the giant mirror on the closet door to my right, and discovered something strange. If I held my hand, or any other body part, for that matter, up to a mirror and looked at the reflection, I could see all the bones inside.
I ran to the bathroom and examined my back in the mirror, and located the slipped disk. After returning to my computer, I IMed Pete and told him about this "phenomenon." He left to go test it out and never returned.
